The Uncanny
Video installation
Based on Freud’s homonymous theory, in The Uncanny (autotheory) the narrator, voice and images used are all generated by artificial intelligence software and stands as an avatar of the artist with different physycal atributes. What distinguishes these pseudo-consciences from the human consciousness is, amongst many other things, the lack of childhood memories, and therefore the lack of a narrative of affective development. In this piece authorship is questioned, as the AI generated avatar is imbued with a nostalgic sensibility for her childhood, and an aesthetic inspired in narrative genres from the 90’s.
